Tips For Working On The Go

Working in field sales has a lot of perks. For the most part, you can set your own schedule. You’re able to de-stress a bit with your favorite music or podcast while you drive to your next appointment. You don’t usually have a superior asking you for things all day long. You control your day. However, working in field sales means you’re constantly on the go. At times, that can make the job seem more stressful. Fortunately, you can turn that around with our tips for working on-the-go!

Morning Checklists

When you know you’ll be working on the go or traveling far, make sure to get all of your tasks aligned and prepare yourself before you even leave your house in the morning. This may require you to wake up a half hour earlier than you normally would, but it will help make your day run smoother. Know what you have to do so that you know what you need with you and you don’t have to make unnecessary stops at home or at your office later.

Prepare Your Work Bag In Advance

Do you have a tote bag, briefcase, or backpack that you use for work every day? Make sure that whatever you’re using is not only easy to carry around but also big enough to carry all your on-the-go essentials. Bring things like water bottles, snack bars, extra deodorant, and maybe even an extra shirt so you don’t have to worry about going into an appointment with a line of coffee spilled down your shirt. Bring plenty of extra pens and pencils and all of your handy-dandy marketing materials, too.

Find Free Wi-Fi Spots

Find an internet cafe or other spot or two that offers free wifi and is along your daily route. That way, your extra time between appointments doesn’t ever have to go by wasted. Take your laptop inside, grab a cup of coffee or lunch, and spend your time wisely. Go through your emails, update information about your clients and leads, and make sure you’re ready for your next appointment!

Charge Up When You Can

Since you’re not sitting in an office but probably using your phone a lot, you’ll want to make sure you charge up when you can. Always keep a phone charger in your car, and make sure you charge your laptop everytime you sit somewhere with an outlet. That way, you won’t run into the risk of not having an outlet nearby when you need one most!
