Humana Is Optimistic As Focus Shifts To Medicare Advantage

As you may know, Humana is leaving the individual side of the health care business under the ACA next year. That doesn’t mean they’re shutting down, they’re just changing gears. This year, Humana is shifting to Medicare Advantage and expanding its primary care and home care business.

Yesterday, Humana raised its earnings-per-share by 30 cents (now $11.50).  As profits rose by nearly half a billion dollars, CEO Bruce Broussard said, “We have a good feeling going into 2018.” This is huge for the company as earlier this year, Humana and Aetna attempted and failed to merge companies thanks to a block from the Federal Court.

Significance

Nearly 35% of Humana beneficiaries are enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans. Almost 75% of Humana Medicare Advantage beneficiaries will be enrolled in “four-star plans or higher” in 2018. Preventative care quality and waiting times determine the star ratings.

Humana’s Medicare Advantage success is allowing them to offer top-of-the-line benefits for 2018.  As a result, they will improve their overall business and YOUR chance of closing sales!
