How To Use Facebook For Referrals and Leads

Are you making use of SEO and content marketing to build your business? Are you using social media to generate referrals and leads? Facebook is the most popular social media platform. These days, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who does not have a Facebook page, even in the 65+ generation.

Keep in mind the CMS rules and regulations for incentives and referrals. You can’t offer gifts valuing more than $15 (so no major Facebook giveaways), and you can’t directly ask your clients to give you referrals.

There are certain compliance rules when it comes to using social media as well. For example, if you’re using your personal Facebook page for promotions instead of creating a separate sales page, you’ll need to include a disclaimer on your posts. Additionally, all content must have a date and time stamp.

You’ll be legal and compliant as long as you follow the following rules:

  • Don’t provide links for foreign drug sales (including advertisements).
  • Don’t speak on behalf of Medicare, Medicaid, or CMS.
  • Don’t require contact information for content access.
  • Don’t provide content for the next contract year prior to October first.

So how can you use Facebook to generate leads and referrals? There are a few key tactics:

  • Post shareable, unique content (blogs, factual updates, etc.) about Medicare that your friends will want to share with their friends.
  • Have landing pages for your blog posts that link to your contact information so that potential clients can reach out to you to set an appointment. Build a landing page in minutes using an easy, user-friendly website builder like WordPress or Wix.
  • Start a separate Facebook page for your insurance business to help avoid compliance issues. Ask your friends to like it first, then try Facebook Advertising by “boosting” posts and your page to gain likes and potential leads.

Be careful to remember those compliance tips, and you should be well on your way to building your business (legally) and earning free and cheap leads and referrals for taking just minutes of your time to get online.
