How To Create Your Own Brand

Do you know how important branding is? Do you know how to create your own brand? Whether you’re working with an FMO like Senior Market Advisors or working independently, the way you present yourself (your brand) can make a huge difference in the number of leads you secure.

Your Name

Do you have a professional tagline or business name that you use when selling insurance? You’ll want to stand out from the crowd, but not so much that people don’t know what you do. Avoid over-simplified names like “[Your Name] Insurance,” because you won’t show up in search engines. For the same reason, avoid complicated names and strange spellings like “[Your Name] En$urance.” While it looks creative, it makes you harder to find.

Keep your name relevant to your work. Names like “Aetna” or “Humana” work great for big, national carriers, but may keep business away from you. Think of words and phrases relevant to the products you sell.

Your Logo

A simple logo for your business cards and other marketing materials can go a long way in showing your professionalism and effort. All you rneed to stand out from your competition is a small shape with eyour business name initials. If you want to be a bit more creative, consider a small image or symbol that represents the products you sell. Keep it small and simple.

Your Digital Style

Keep everything readable and professional. Avoid overly bright or neon colors, be sure that all text stands out on its background, and try to stick to a color theme. Pick colors that are easy on the eyes (stay away from bright reds) but stand out. Write down hex numbers (when you pick from a color wheel, that’s the number that comes up) so that you can match the color on any website or design platform. Use readable, basic, and recognizable fonts like Times New Roman and Helvetica – people will turn away quickly if they can’t read your type.

Use the same colors, fonts, and general style on all digital (social media, website, etc.) and physical (business cards, mailings, flyers, etc.) platforms. Happy branding!
