Turn Your Weaknesses Into Strengths to Close More Sales
We’ve all heard the dreaded interview question, “what are your biggest weaknesses?” Is it a fair question? Maybe not, but it’s a good chance to take a look at yourself and figure out what your weaknesses really are. If we don’t accept the fact that we are not perfect, we will slow our own growth. Take a minute right now to think about at least three weaknesses. Write them down, then read on:
Understand Your Weaknesses
The first step is finding the root of the problem. For example, if one of your weaknesses is showing up late, ask yourself why you have such a hard time getting to your appointments on time! Is it because you’re waking up too late, or is it because you take too long to get ready? Is it because you don’t want to go and you’re stalling? You can’t solve the problem unless you get down to the root of it.
If your tardiness is a result of not wanting to go, maybe you need to make your commute more exciting. Maybe it will help to find a great podcast or radio show that you only listen to when you’re in your car, on your way to your appointments. That way, you’ll have an extra incentive to get out and go (on time).
Over-prepare for Everything
There’s no such thing as over-preparing. Let’s stick with our tardiness example. If you know that you have a habit of showing up late, set more alarms or reminders on your phone. Tell yourself that the meeting is earlier than it actually is. Print copies of your schedule for your car, your briefcase, and your bedside table. Leave your materials, phone charger, and anything else you need for the day set in one spot before you go to bed so you can grab everything and go in the morning. Think about your weakness and how you can over-prepare to avoid mishaps.
It’s the year 2018, which means it’s incredibly easy to find free training materials for any skill you want to learn or improve on. Want to learn how to code your own website? Do some Google and YouTube searching. The same goes for almost any other skill you want to improve.
Outsource When Possible
Remember that you don’t have to be good at everything (and no one expects you to be). If one of your weaknesses is writing, hire a professional to write your website content. If your biggest weakness is graphic design, hire a graphic designer. If there is a skill that you are not good at but need to improve your business, hire someone to help you.
