Post AEP – What Now?

Now that AEP is over, it’s time to sit back and relax, right? Well, not completely. You should take this time to relax a bit and congratulate yourself on your hard work throughout the year, but there are still opportunities and preparations you can take.

Look For Missed Opportunities

Of all the Medicare Advantage plans you sold during AEP, there are bound to be a good handful that you can add to. Take this time to look through everything you’ve sold and pick out clients that you think could use an additional plan. Then, be sure to schedule “check-in” appointments with them, where you can sell ancillary plans like cancer policies, hospital indemnity, long-term care, and more.

Focus On SEP Business

Did you reach your AEP goal? How about your 2017 goal? Concentrate on SEP business during the last few weeks of December so you can amp up your 2017 sales numbers before it’s too late!

Take Advantage of Holiday Events

From small village Christmas fairs to large community holiday events, there are bound to be plenty of opportunities in your area where you can market to seniors and Medicare eligibles. Rent out booths or tables at these events and meet with people who either missed out on AEP or could use extra coverage. Hand out your business cards and offer to meet with people after the holidays to discuss their ancillary plan needs. Remember to register your event with CMS so you can legally collect information!

Start Planning For 2018

Take a day or two during your Christmas break from selling to plan for 2018. Look at your goals from 2017: Did you meet them? Did you have a hard time accomplishing them? Did you notice anything different, or gather any new ideas? Write down your notes from 2017, then look at it all and decide how you can improve for 2018. You should always be trying to improve yourself!
