Add Medicare Under 65 To Your Book Of Business

You can expand your Medicare market reach to include some adults who are not yet 65. This is a great opportunity for you to reach more people and make more sales! Take advantage of your opportunity to sell Medicare for those under 65.

Eligibility

In some circumstances, Americans who are under the age of 65 are eligible for Medicare. You can sell Medicare plans to anyone who has received SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) for 24 months with the exception of those diagnosed with ALS. Those eligible will automatically be enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B in month 25 of their SSDI checks (and will receive a Medicare card then). Those with ESRD (End-Stage Renal Disease) at any age are also eligible for Medicare, regardless of Social Security standing.

Once those with SSDI or ESRD have Medicare Parts A and B, they have the option to purchase Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement. That’s when you can come in and sell to an individual who is not yet 65.

What’s Included?

Medicare for the young and disabled is slightly different from 65+ Medicare. For instance, beneficiaries who are medically disabled but return to work will not have to pay a Part A premium for their first 8 1/2 years. If at that point a beneficiary still needs help, they can apply for the QDWI, or Qualified Disabled and Working Individuals Program.

Benefits are the same as in the Medicare program for seniors. It does not automatically include prescription drug coverage. Disabled beneficiaries will have to choose to enroll in either Part D, Medicare Advantage, or Medicare Supplement.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to expand your market. You don’t have to only sell to seniors with these Medicare rules! Add Medicare under 65 to your book of business.
